New Photography blog

I promise I'll come back to respond to comments when I have some more time, but thank you to everyone for their support and reading through all my whining. :)

I have a new photography blog! Blogspot and I just weren't getting along the way I wanted us to, so I moved to WordPress. Check it out! Let me know if you find any issues or have comments, WordPress is not as user simple as blogspot but it is infinitely more customizable. :)

Awesome. Everything looks great. I think there is also a way to put the intro post as the first post that someone sees every time they go to the blog... if that is something you are interested in.

Also, out of pure curiosity, how do you pronounce Nguyen?

it's kind of like "whe-eng" but slurred together quickly. the "ng" makes a sort of "w" sound. :)

I think for now i'm going to leave photo galleries to my website, and just have the blog be sneak peeks. todd found a cool plugin which, when you click on the picture, makes them full size and run as a slideshow! i might implement that and see how it goes.

In general I think it looks very nice! A couple of thoughts:

• Blogroll... wow... uh... hmmm. Is this supposed to be like Bogroll? As in British slang for Toilet Paper? Cause that's how I read it, and it makes me cringe a bit. I'm not sure what I'm getting by going to those blogs, and "Blogroll", besides the negative connotations, doesn't tell me anything about what those blogs are or why I should go visit them.

• The bit underneath your header looks really empty with just a search bar and the RSS logo. Can that stuff go up in your main header and then get rid of that space underneath your boys' portaits?

The only other thing I'd mention, is a comment on your photos, which I LOVE by the way. But you do seem to crop people at the knees like in the first 2 pictures of the little girl in the V family, and it just seems a bit awkward. I absolutely love the one of that little girl with the rain coat and the one of the two boys' feet with the yellow flowers next to them. Oh, and all the family's hands. Oh, and the little Asian girl with the flower-print dress is so adorable!

  • I NOTICED THAT TOO. I was trying not to crop too much at joints and cropping right below it, but it's really prevalent in all the chair shots. :(

    "I shoot children" is the only thing that comes to mind... which may or may not be amusing... depending on how sadistic your sense of humor is ;)

    I love WordPress- it's so much nicer than Blogger. I like the clean lines of your new site. There's nothing to detract from your amazing photographs.

    wordpress is totally amazing, there are so many different plugins to utilize the site. plus i also love how I can finally get rid of that stupid sidebar. :)

    It's beautiful - good job! :) I wanna move our blog to WordPress, too - I'm sure it'll be work but Blogger just doesn't have the look I want (and I don't think I can embed it in the main website like you can with WP).

    it is a little work, it took me a week to figure out all the bugs, but that is because I went with a special theme instead of one of the already made WP themes (which might be easier to work with). if you do convert over let me know and i can help you troubleshoot!
